When we aren't wearing full on fur/faux fur, what can one wear for your Vintage-look coat?

My idea of a top notch Vintage coat is waist cinching, fur trimmed and a neutral colour, or a princess cut with double breasted button detail. 

After a much needed catch up and some laaaarvly sushi I knew I'd need to take a photo of Sophie. Sophie has one hell of a wardrobe.

Sophie sports her new French Connection coat made that extra bit special by the blue turban she got from her travels.

My Vintage Fair Buys

 I had a spare 30 minutes to nip around the fair after promoting in the cold all day. First of all, I couldn't believe how cheap everything was! I could have gone mad! And I seriously regret not buying one particular dress for £5. But we live and learn. 

Below are two bird hair clips. They are so bloody lovely, I can't wait to create a nest for them to sit in (in my hair).

 

I saw this necklace from afar and expected a hefty price tag but no, £5 later and it was in my pocket.

 Super stuff.

Sticking to £5 items, I am in love with this simple 50s summer dress. It is a little big, but belted and petticoated I reckon this dress will see me through many summer days.

I took a risk with this next 60s dress. Again a snip at a fiver. But it's so high necked that I figured it would make me look very busty. It isn't the most flattering of my dresses but it is so detailed with the beading at the collar, cuffs and waist that I couldn't turn it down. 

Oh and I'm well aware my frizzy locks need to be in a top knot for this dress. 

Well! There you go. The Vintage Fair - get going.

Naff But True

So I just went out running as a bit of a vent for my rubbish weekend frustrations. And before I knew it I had clocked up 9K. Now those that know me will know that I am not an active person and started this exercise business merely 4 weeks ago. So this is a big deal, I assure you.

The biggest thing for me is that I felt so proud of what I had achieved, what my BODY had achieved. Again, those that know me will know about my recent weight loss and crushingly low self esteem. So for me to post this photo of me finishing my longest ever run is also a big deal.

I felt just as beautiful here as in my previous post, all dressed up. Naff but my GOD it's true!

The Vintage Fair: January Sales

It is that time again where I am promo girl. It's also the last time I can wear what I want! We are getting uniforms for March 10th (The Town Hall 11-5...FYI).  It wasn't as eventful as previous promo days, no marriage proposals or anything like that. But I did get photographed about 6 times. I find it odd that my photo is flying around the internet. hmm. Flattered I suppose. Anyway. The above outfit comprises of Girl Stole Vintage dress, Primark brogues and a vintage pill box hat. Oh and the earrings are from Topshop. 

I decided to do a very nifty nod to the Victory Roll/quiff hairstyle as I didn't have a great deal of time to get ready! The lipstick is a beautiful Guerlain red complete with compact mirror. It is a fabulous lipstick as it lasts forever.

This hat was only a fiver but I love it. Don't be afraid to put pill box hats at a jaunty angle or even on the back of your head like I have. It hides a multitude of hair sins!

Specky Four-Eyes

Now. Don't get me wrong, I love glasses. I wear them often and want to buy lots of different kinds for various outfits and occasions. But the other night, we had a girly sort of soiree at a club I rarely visit (and when I do, it is mostly for the purpose of irony) and I felt so incredibly unattractive because of my glasses.

I don't often wear them on nights out but contact lenses were dry blah blah etcetc so I popped them on and didn't think anything of it. It was only when I got onto the dance floor and started to look around and see that not one girl had glasses on that I became very aware of my own. It is with regret that I admit all of this, because if I'd heard one person say such nonsense I would have told them to "stop being stupid". Looking back at the photos (see above) I don't think I look half bad and honestly can't think what all the fuss was about. But at the time I felt truly ugly and as my house mate suggested, hidden away behind them.

I doubt that people would describe me as shy and retiring so I really shocked myself with this sudden complex about wearing my glasses out and unfortunately probably won't be doing it again, which is ridiculous. 

Perhaps it was the location of our night out and the typical clientele that made me feel so uncomfortable? I really couldn't say. If I do wear spectacles again, I'd like them to be one of these from Gok Wan's range at Specsavers.

Market Harborough

Last weekend I visited Revis HQ in Moulton outside of Northampton, a little village with some big houses. And probably some other things too. On Sunday we went to the market town, Market Harborough (clue is in the name I guess). This is the place I bought my silk Vivienne Westwood Anglomania dress from the scary yet polite elbows-in-face Summer Sale at High Society. Swish.

The antique market was our destination, Papa Revis is a big stamp collector so it wasn’t just me who got excited about all the Pretty Used Things. (Hooooo!)

I picked up three brooches and matching candlestick holders with cross-stiitch detail, though one is damaged. It doesn’t matter though as for the lot I paid £6.50! Best bit is one brooch is set in rabbit fur. Bargain.
